1.About cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Some are essential to make a site work, such as remembering that you're signed in. Others track you for analytics or advertising. UK law allows essential cookies without asking, and requires your consent for everything else.
2.Cookies we use
Essential cookies
These are needed for the site to work, so they don't need your consent. The sign-in cookies are set by Supabase, which runs our sign-in, on Promotello's own domain, and only when you sign in or use a sign-up or password link.
| Cookie | What it's for | How long |
|---|---|---|
| sb-…-auth-token | Keeps you signed in. Very long sessions may be split across numbered cookies (.0, .1). | Up to 400 days, or until you sign out |
| sb-…-auth-token-code-verifier | Completes sign-up confirmation and password reset links securely. | Removed once the link is used |
| promotello_consent | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies, the day you chose, and which version of this policy you were asked about. | 1 year |
| promotello_city | Remembers the city you chose in the location search, so you see its offers. Only set when you choose one. | 1 year |
Analytics cookies (optional)
If you accept, we use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use Promotello, such as which pages are visited and roughly where visitors are. Google processes this on our behalf. We don't use it to identify you or for advertising, and Google Analytics doesn't store your IP address. If you reject or ignore the banner, these cookies are never set.
| Cookie | What it's for | How long |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics: tells visits apart so we can count visitors. | 2 years |
| _ga_J5SCQTSJTY | Google Analytics: keeps track of the current visit. | 2 years |
The page view and QR scan counts businesses see are separate: they're recorded without cookies and aren't linked to you.
3.Other companies' cookies
- Google Maps. Business pages can show a map. It only loads when you press “Show map”, and Google may then set its own cookies. See Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com.
- Stripe. When a business pays for a subscription, it goes to Stripe's own checkout pages, which use Stripe's cookies to process payments and prevent fraud. See stripe.com/privacy.
- Google reviews. If you click through to leave a review, you're on Google's website and its cookie policy applies.
4.Managing your choices
When you first visit, we ask whether you accept analytics cookies. Accept and Reject are equally easy, and nothing optional is set until you choose. Change your choice here at any time:
Analytics cookies are currently off.
We keep your answer for a year, along with the date you gave it and the version of this policy you were asked about. If we ever want cookies for something new, that makes it a different question, so we ask it again rather than treat an old answer as a yes.
Turning analytics off stops it straight away and deletes its cookies. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but you won't be able to stay signed in to Promotello without the essential ones. Signing out removes our sign-in cookie.
